SUMMARY:Flag Day Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Officials in Grapevine will hold the city's annual Flag Day Celebration on Tuesday\, June 14 at 11 a.m. The event will take place at Grapevine's Gazebo\, located in the 300 block of Main Street in Historic Downtown Grapevine.\n\n\n\nFlag Day is officially celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States\, which occurred that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777. In 1916\, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day\; in August 1949\, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.\n\n\n\nThe flag of today grew out of many earlier flags raised in days gone by over American soil. The flag of the United States of America today has 13 stripes - 7 red and 6 white - and 50 white stars on a blue field - five rows of 6 and four rows of 5. The stripes remind us of the 13 original colonies that gained us our liberty. The stars represent the states that are bound together into one country.\n\n\n\nWe invite you to join us as we commemorate this significant day in America's history. The event is free and open to the general public\, with cookies and lemonade to be served upon conclusion of the program.
