Enjoy a tropical experience without even leaving the area. Tarrant County Precinct 3 Commissioner Gary Fickes is firing up the luau grills for HAWAII 5-0, FICKES STYLE, his annual United Way fundraiser this Friday, June 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The fun takes place at the Northeast Courthouse at 645 Grapevine Highway in Hurst and includes hot-off-the-grill burgers and hot dogs with chips and chili. Your $8 donation earns your meal, which you can top off with tropical fruits like pineapple and mangos. Yum! Also check out the cherry limeades and popcorn, which you can enjoy inside the tent on the courthouse patio or come inside the comfort of the community room’s 68-degree temperature. According to Commissioner Fickes, “This is an entertaining way to raise money for many Tarrant County organizations. Everyone loves this party and I already know of people buying new Hawaiian shirts." Compete in the Best Hawaiian Shirt/Outfit contest, participate in beach games and take a picture in the photo booth. Attendees can also bid on packages with over 50 (get it, Hawaii FIVE-O?) cool items combined into silent auction packages and door prizes. Work on your tan and we’ll see you Friday for the Hawaiian luau — HAWAII 5-0, FICKES STYLE, at the Tarrant County Northeast Courthouse!
